LIVE THE SONG – THE CARRIAGE

Vintage Car CoupleSong of Songs 3:6-11

She

Who is this coming up from the wilderness
    like a column of smoke,
perfumed with myrrh and incense
made from all the spices of the merchant?
Look! It is Solomon’s carriage,
    escorted by sixty warriors,
    the noblest of Israel,
all of them wearing the sword,
    all experienced in battle,
each with his sword at his side,
prepared for the terrors of the night.
King Solomon made for himself the carriage;
he made it of wood from Lebanon.
10 Its posts he made of silver,
    its base of gold.
Its seat was upholstered with purple,
    its interior inlaid with love.
Daughters of Jerusalem, 11 come out,
and look, you daughters of Zion.
Look on King Solomon wearing a crown,
the crown with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
    the day his heart rejoiced.

My husband loves cars. I could point to any car that we pass and he could tell me the make and model. He watches car races, he reads about cars and he reads about the people that race cars. He simply loves cars.

Just like King Solomon carefully planned the construction of his carriage, our husbands care about their cars. Their car is this wonderful beast that never questions them but simply responds to a push of the gas pedal or the spinning of the steering wheel. Their car reliably requires fresh oil a couple of times a year, mechanical maintenance and  a wash after winter. There are no emotions, hormones or feelings to try to figure out – just good old metal and rubber.

In honor of our husbands and their cars…

This week ….

1. Thank your husband for the work that he does in making sure you have to car to drive.

2. Surprise your husband by detailing his car inside and out. Get the kids involved.

3. Go on a drive with just the two of you, have him park at a secluded spot and enjoy some old fashioned making out in the car.

4. Surprise your husband by finding a secluded spot to park your car and have sex, or simply have sex with the car parked in the garage.

What plan do you have for your husband and his car?
