A year ago, my husband decided he should start doing sit ups to flatten the small ponch that naturally forms around the waist of a 50 year old man. Every night after he is ready for bed, he lays down on his back to crunch out 30 sit ups and his morning routine begins the same way. At first I didn’t think much of it, but lately I have realized just how much I enjoy it.
We spend our entire lives hearing “how visual men are” so we assume the inverse is true – “women are not visual.” But God gave women eyes and He gave our husbands bodies. In Song of Songs Chapter 5, she says,
- My beloved is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand….
- His arms are rods of gold, set with topaz.
- His body is like polished ivory decorated with lapis lazulli.
- His legs are pillars of marble set on bases of pure gold.
She is checking out her husband’s body from head to toe. She takes note of each part of him and admires it with delight.
A few months ago, my husband added 20 squats to the routine in order to strengthen a weak knee. As I began to take him in visually I teasingly shared how hot it would be to watch him add push ups to the routine.
I am thrilled my husband wants to stay healthy and fit – for himself and for me. It really doesn’t take him that long, and every night I hop up on my bed ready to watch. I like to hear him out of breath as his heart begins to pound from working his muscles. I leisurely let my eyes take in the view of his body moving and working to stay fit. When his warm, pumped body joins me in bed, I cannot resist running my hands over his muscles, and expressing my appreciation.
Do you enjoy your husband’s body with your eyes and have you let him know?
